Is This Guide for You?

Switching platforms is a significant decision. Here's when it makes sense — and when staying on OpenCourt may be better.

The 3% Growth Service Fee Is Eating Your Revenue

OpenCourt Growth ($199/mo annual, $249 monthly) charges a 3% service fee on every transaction — paid by the player or absorbed by the club. At $100K annual revenue, that's $3,000/year. Book & Go charges 0% platform commission on all plans. You keep 100% of your court revenue (minus only your payment processor's standard rates).

Branded App Costs $100/mo + $600 Setup

On OpenCourt Growth and Pro, a branded mobile app is an add-on: $100/mo recurring + $600 one-time setup fee. That's $1,800/year just to have your own app — or you use the shared OpenCourt app with all other clubs. Book & Go includes a native iOS/Android app under your club name on every plan. No add-on fee. No setup charge. No tier lock.

To Get Both, You Need Elite at $749/mo

OpenCourt Elite ($749/mo annual, $899 monthly) includes the branded app and 0% service fee. But you're paying $550+/mo more than Growth for features that should be standard. Book & Go includes white-label app + 0% commission on all plans — no tier tax.

No Shared OpenCourt App — 100% Your Brand

OpenCourt players use the shared "OpenCourt" app alongside all other clubs. Even with the branded app add-on, the shared app is still available. Book & Go gives you a standalone branded app with zero competitor visibility. Players download YOUR app, not ours.

An honest take

When Staying on OpenCourt May Be Better

You're on Elite and the Cost Structure Works for YouIf you're already on OpenCourt Elite ($749/mo) with the branded app included and 0% service fee, and your monthly revenue justifies the subscription cost, the platform delivers solid features. Book & Go is the better choice if you want to reduce subscription costs or need multi-language/multi-currency support.
Access Control and Video Replay Are CriticalOpenCourt includes door access control and video replay on all plans as built-in features. If these hardware integrations are critical to your operations, verify that Book & Go's access control integrations meet your needs before switching.
You're US-Focused with English-Only RequirementsOpenCourt is primarily US-focused with an English-only interface. If your club operates exclusively in the United States with English-speaking members and has no expansion plans, OpenCourt's feature set may be sufficient.

Bring your members along

Member Communication Plan

Clear, frequent communication is critical. Here's a proven 6-week campaign from first announcement to post-launch check-in.

Pro Tip: Use email, in-app push notifications, WhatsApp groups, and in-club posters. Redundant communication is good — many members only read the 3rd or 4th message.

Go-live day

Cutover Day Checklist

The day you flip the switch. Here's what needs to happen.

Rollback Plan: Keep OpenCourt credentials active for 7 days after cutover in case you need to revert. Most clubs never need it, but having the option reduces risk.

Cutover · Day 18 / 8 done
  • Final member data sync (any new signups during dual-run)
  • Activate payment processing on Book & Go (Stripe/Revolut under your account)
  • Staff briefed: all bookings now Book & Go only
  • OpenCourt booking engine paused or redirected
  • In-club signage updated (QR codes, app download posters)
  • Email + push notification sent: "We're live"
  • Monitor first-day transaction volume and support tickets
  • Backup plan: OpenCourt credentials kept active for 7 days in case of rollback
After launch

First 30 Days: What to Watch

The first month is critical. Here's what to monitor and optimize.

  • 01Daily monitoring: bookings, payments, occupancy, support tickets
  • 02Re-engagement campaign for members who haven't downloaded the app
  • 03Push notification cadence: weekly tips, promotions, new features
  • 04Review analytics: peak times, court utilization, no-show rates
  • 05Staff feedback session: what's working, what needs improvement
  • 06Calculate actual savings from zero platform commission vs OpenCourt 3% fee (if applicable)
  • 07Plan first owned-marketing push (email campaign, loyalty program launch)

Success Metric: Day 30

from this guide

By day 30, you should see 80%+ of active members using the new app, occupancy levels matching or exceeding pre-switch rates, and positive feedback on push notifications and new features.

FAQ

Migration FAQ

Still deciding? See why clubs leave OpenCourt.

Why Switch from OpenCourt →
How long does the full migration take?
Most clubs complete the migration in 4-8 weeks from kickoff to cutover. The timeline includes setup, member onboarding, a dual-run period, and final cutover. Clubs with complex integrations or large member bases may need 8-12 weeks.
Can I run OpenCourt and Book & Go in parallel during the transition?
Yes. Many clubs run both systems for 2-4 weeks while members transition. During this period, freeze long-horizon bookings on OpenCourt (bookings beyond the cutover date) to avoid conflicts. Note that you'll pay the 3% service fee on OpenCourt bookings during dual-run if you're on the Growth plan.
What happens to existing OpenCourt bookings?
All bookings made before cutover are honored. Book & Go imports upcoming reservations (next 30-60 days) so members see their existing bookings in the new app.
How do we migrate member wallet balances?
Wallet balances cannot be automatically transferred. Options: (1) manually credit wallets in Book & Go based on OpenCourt export, or (2) allow members to spend down credits before cutover.
Do we need to notify OpenCourt before switching?
Review your OpenCourt contract for notice requirements. Some agreements have notice periods or early termination fees. Contact OpenCourt support to discuss your exit plan.
What if our members refuse to switch?
Resistance is rare when migration is well-communicated. Key tactics: (1) early preview access for loyal members, (2) emphasize benefits (your brand, zero commission, new features), (3) in-club support during first week. Most clubs see 80%+ adoption within 2 weeks.
Does OpenCourt charge a 3% service fee on all plans?
No. The 3% service fee applies only to the Growth plan ($199/mo annual, $249 monthly). Pro, Elite, and Enterprise plans have 0% service fee. Book & Go charges 0% platform commission on all plans.
Can I get a white-label native app on OpenCourt Growth without paying $100/mo + $600?
No. On Growth and Pro plans, a branded mobile app is an add-on: $100/mo recurring + $600 one-time setup. Only Elite ($749/mo) and Enterprise include the branded app. Book & Go includes a native iOS/Android app under your club name on every plan at no additional cost.
Will I lose door access and video replay if I leave OpenCourt?
OpenCourt includes door access control and video replay on all plans as built-in features. Book & Go offers door access integrations (Protege GX/secCloud, ZKTeco ADMS, Fingerspot) — verify your specific access control hardware compatibility before switching. Video replay availability is not currently published; contact Book & Go to confirm availability.
Can I get a white-label native app without upgrading to Elite?
Not on OpenCourt. You need to upgrade to Elite ($749/mo annual, $899 monthly) or pay the $100/mo + $600 add-on on Growth/Pro. Book & Go publishes a native iOS/Android app under your club name on the App Store and Google Play — 100% your brand from day one on every plan.
