Is This Guide for You?

Switching platforms is a significant decision. Here's when it makes sense — and when staying on Glofox may be better.

You Run a Sports Club, Not a Boutique Gym

Glofox was built for boutique gyms, fitness studios, and wellness businesses. If you run a court-based sports facility (padel, tennis, pickleball), you need court booking, tournament management, player rankings, and open-match coordination — features Glofox does not offer because it was designed for gym check-ins and fitness class scheduling, not court operations.

Branded App Gated Behind Elite Tier

Glofox includes a Custom Branded Member App only on its Elite plan (contact pricing). On Essential and Boost, the branded app is an optional add-on with cost not published. If you want your own branded app on the App Store under your name, Book & Go gives you a white-label app included on all plans.

Opaque Pricing Structure

Glofox advertises "Plans starting at $99/month" but does not publish per-tier pricing. Essential, Boost, Elite, and Enterprise all require contacting sales. You have no transparency on what features cost or when you will be forced to upgrade. Book & Go has flat subscription pricing with all features included — no tier complexity, no hidden costs.

You Need Tournament and Court Features

Glofox has zero tournament management, brackets, or player ranking features. These features are irrelevant for gym businesses but essential for sports clubs. Book & Go includes full tournament and league management with automated draws, brackets, pool play, and leaderboards — all included.

When Staying on Glofox May Be Better

You Run a Boutique Gym or Fitness StudioIf you run a boutique gym, fitness studio, Pilates gym, or wellness business, Glofox's class and membership scheduling is purpose-built for that workflow. The platform is established in the fitness/wellness industry with features tailored to that vertical.
You Value Glofox's Price Lock ClaimGlofox claims "price is locked for life" on their FAQ. If long-term price stability is important to your business model and you have that commitment in writing, that's a pitch Glofox actively promotes (verify claim directly with Glofox).
Your Business Model Is Class-Based, Not Court-BasedGlofox excels at class scheduling, recurring sessions, and gym membership management. If your facility is primarily class-based (group fitness, HIIT, spin, yoga) and you don't need court booking or tournament features, Glofox is a natural fit.

Data Export: What to Expect

No automated one-click migration exists. Here's the reality of what data can be moved and how.

Data typeHow it movesMigration reality
Member Contact DetailsCSV importRequest export from Glofox support. Export format depends on your Glofox plan tier. Book & Go can import via CSV (name, email, phone, membership tier).
Booking HistoryUpcoming 30–60 daysHistorical booking data export may be limited by plan tier. Focus on importing upcoming bookings (next 30-60 days) to honor commitments.
Court & Facility ConfigRecreate manuallyManually recreate court setup in Book & Go (names, operating hours, pricing). No automated export from Glofox for court-based operations.
Membership Tiers & RulesRecreate with CSDocument active membership types, benefits, and billing cycles. Recreate in Book & Go with CS help.
Wallet BalancesNo direct transferNo direct transfer. Options: honor balances manually in Book & Go wallets, or run down existing credits on Glofox before cutover.
Class & Appointment HistoryLimited exportGlofox allows class/appointment exports (tier-dependent). For court bookings, you may need to export and manually recreate future bookings in Book & Go.

Important: Book & Go customer success handles data import coordination. Contact both Book & Go and Glofox support to request export assistance. Export capabilities vary by Glofox plan tier; verify with vendor before migration planning.

Member Communication Plan

Clear, frequent communication is critical. Here's a proven 6-week campaign from first announcement to post-launch check-in.

Pro Tip: Use email, in-app push notifications, WhatsApp groups, and in-club posters. Redundant communication is good — many members only read the 3rd or 4th message.

Go-live day

Cutover Day Checklist

The day you flip the switch. Here's what needs to happen.

Rollback Plan: Keep Glofox credentials active for 7 days after cutover in case you need to revert. Most clubs never need it, but having the option reduces risk.

Cutover · Day 18 / 8 done
  • Final member data sync (any new signups during dual-run)
  • Activate payment processing on Book & Go (Stripe/Revolut under your account)
  • Staff briefed: all bookings now Book & Go only
  • Glofox booking engine paused or redirected
  • In-club signage updated (QR codes, app download posters)
  • Email + push notification sent: "We're live"
  • Monitor first-day transaction volume and support tickets
  • Backup plan: Glofox credentials kept active for 7 days in case of rollback
After launch

First 30 Days: What to Watch

The first month is critical. Here's what to monitor and optimize.

  • 01Daily monitoring: bookings, payments, occupancy, support tickets
  • 02Re-engagement campaign for members who haven't downloaded the app
  • 03Push notification cadence: weekly tips, promotions, new features
  • 04Review analytics: peak times, court utilization, no-show rates
  • 05Staff feedback session: what's working, what needs improvement
  • 06Plan first owned-marketing push (email campaign, loyalty program launch)

Success Metric: Day 30

from this guide

By day 30, you should see 80%+ of active members using the new app, occupancy levels matching or exceeding pre-switch rates, and positive feedback on push notifications and new features.

FAQ

Migration FAQ

Why Switch from Glofox →
How long does the full migration take?
Most clubs complete the migration in 4-8 weeks from kickoff to cutover. The timeline includes setup, member onboarding, a dual-run period, and final cutover. Clubs with complex integrations or large member bases may need 8-12 weeks.
Can I run Glofox and Book & Go in parallel during the transition?
Yes. Many clubs run both systems for 2-4 weeks while members transition. During this period, freeze long-horizon bookings on Glofox (bookings beyond the cutover date) to avoid conflicts.
What happens to existing Glofox bookings?
All bookings made before cutover are honored. Book & Go imports upcoming reservations (next 30-60 days) so members see their existing bookings in the new app.
How do we migrate member wallet balances?
Wallet balances cannot be automatically transferred. Options: (1) manually credit wallets in Book & Go based on Glofox export, or (2) allow members to spend down Glofox credits before cutover.
Do we need to notify Glofox before switching?
Review your Glofox contract for notice requirements. Some agreements have notice periods or early termination fees. Contact Glofox support to discuss your exit plan.
What if our members refuse to switch?
Resistance is rare when migration is well-communicated. Key tactics: (1) early preview access for loyal members, (2) emphasize benefits (your own branded app, tournaments and rankings, built-in POS, zero commission), (3) in-club support during first week. Most clubs see 80%+ adoption within 2 weeks.
Can I get a branded app without upgrading to Glofox Elite?
No. Glofox's Custom Branded Member App is included only on the Elite plan (contact pricing). On Essential and Boost plans, the branded app is an optional add-on with cost not published. Book & Go includes a fully branded white-label app on all plans.
Is Book & Go suitable for boutique gyms like Glofox?
Book & Go supports class scheduling, event registration, and POS features. However, Glofox was specifically built for boutique gyms and fitness studios. If you run a pure gym or fitness studio, Glofox may be a better fit. If you run a court-based sports club that also offers fitness classes, Book & Go is purpose-built for that.
Does Glofox support court-based sports clubs?
Glofox uses class/appointment-based booking that does not translate well to court operations. It lacks court-specific features like court scheduling, tournament management, player rankings, and open-match coordination. Sports clubs typically find Glofox's gym focus a poor fit for court-based operations.
Will I lose features if I switch from Glofox to Book & Go?
No. Book & Go offers equivalent class scheduling, event registration, and POS features. You gain court booking, tournament management, player rankings, open-match coordination, and white-label app — all included.
